Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff

The Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff can be a wealth of information, both for information on Papal liturgies, but perhaps more especially for well-referenced general documents on the liturgy in general. All have been published since the year 2005. A small sample are given below.

Liturgical Vestments and the Vesting Prayers

Liturgical Vestments and the Vesting Prayers was published as a study by the Consultors at the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff. It contains the traditional vesting prayers in both Latin and English. (Note that signs with these prayers are available on this site.)

Communion Received on the Tongue and while Kneeling

Communion Received on the Tongue and while Kneeling was published by the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff in May 2008 at the explicit request of Pope Benedict XVI. While the provisions only affect Papal liturgies, it is an instructive and persuasive document. The provisions remain in effect under Pope Francis.

The Use of the Latin Language

The Use of the Latin Language was published by the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff in April 2010 at the explicit request of Pope Benedict XVI. While the provisions only affect Papal liturgies, it cites general liturgical and canon law sources in making its argument. The provisions remain in effect under Pope Francis.
